We pride ourselves on the quality of our rooibos with no milled rooibos sticks blended back to cut costs, or rooibos dust being added to artificially improve the colour. Our product is one of a few that simply contain pure rooibos leaves, the way rooibos was meant to be enjoyed.

Our Story

I created My Red Tea to share the benefits of our 100% Organic Rooibos tea with you. My Red Tea is a woman owned company and we pride ourselves on delivering the best quality Organic Rooibos tea from the highest peaks of the Cederberg mountains in the Western Cape of South Africa, where I grew up. Harvested by hand by farmers who we personally know and trust, all our tea is single origin.

My Red Tea Organic Rooibos tea is unique.

Single origin, GMO-free, pesticide and herbicide free. We only use non-plastic biodegradable teabags. We support fair trade principles and our tea is sustainably and ethically farmed. 10% of our profits support education and cultural programs in the Rooibos farming communities.

Testimonials

Single Origin

My Red Tea is selective and sources Organic Rooibos from high in the Cederberg mountains. The higher the altitude, the less the rain, the lower the yield, the better the Rooibos. More rugged conditions translate into richer and more dense concentration of the good stuff and flavor.

Hand Picked

We’re very careful to pick suppliers who support our values and care just as much about our world and its inhabitants as we do.

Sustainable Packaging

Our teabags are unbleached and made from cellulose (wood pulp) means that our teabags are biodegradable. The filter paper is not coated with the compound epichlorohydrin, and does not contain any free epichlorohydrin. Stash tea bag filter paper is machine folded and pressed, therefore no glue is needed or used and thermoplastics are not used.

CAFFEINE FREE

Naturally sweet and 100% caffeine free, Rooibos is perfect for any age. A healthy alternative to other beverages and kids really love it.

Certified Organic

All our products are certified organic and produced according to federal standards. The use of sewage sludge, bioengineering (GMOs), ionizing radiation, and most synthetic pesticides and fertilizers is prohibited from organic production. Grown on soil free of prohibited substances. Focused on the use of renewable resources and conservation of soil and water, organic farmers enhance and sustain the environment for future generations.

No Funny Stuff

We don’t include any funny stuff in our products. Just the best, simple and natural ingredients. In formulating our products we learned how so many other products include preservatives and other chemicals because it is cheaper and easier.

More about our Rooibos Tea

“Rooibos has been a staple part of my diet from infancy and for generations of South Africans. Loved by children and adults alike, Rooibos is used as a cure-all for everything from stomach ache to baby bum cream, to colic, or a soothing drink with honey for a bad cold.“ Kim, Founder My Red Tea

Unique to the Cederberg region of South Africa, Rooibos (pronounced roy-bos) thrives in the wild and as a cultivated crop. Rooibos is made from the leaves of the “red bush” plant called Aspalathus liners.

Actually, Rooibos is not a tea at all, but rather a part of the broom-like member of the legume family of plants growing in South Africa’s fynbos region, one of the richest botanical areas in the world. The word, Rooibos, translates from the Afrikaans language as “red bush,” which refers to the way that the green, needle-shaped leaves turn red when they fall off the bush and oxidize in the sun.

Rooibos is very high in anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins. It does not contain caffeine and has low tannin levels compared to black and green tea.

Known to generations of South Africans, Rooibos is a naturally sweet and nutty flavor, is high in antioxidants, caffeine-free and bursting with vitamins and minerals. An excellent anytime, anywhere drink for the whole family.

We love our bees

We love our bees and they love Rooibos flowers that offer rich rewards of nectar. During the natural fermentation process, the bees are attracted to the rooibos leaves that are rich in colour and aroma. The bee has become a symbol of our work ethics based on sustainability and respect of nature.

Uniquely South African

Indigenous to the beautiful Cederberg region of the Western Cape in South Africa, our superior quality Rooibos tea is grown at the foot of the magestic Cederberg mountains.

Farmer Friendly

10% of the profits of My Red Tea are committed to support education in our Rooibos farming communities, and we respect fair trade principles. Every sale helps support local communities and create jobs.
